LASERS AND INTENSE PULSE LIGHT

LASERS AND INTENSE PULSE LIGHT

Plastic surgeon in Paris

These two types of techniques are based on the emission of light either in a given segment of the laser light spectrum, or at very wide spectrum – from 400 to 1400 nanometers – for pulsed light. In both cases the goal is the destruction of the targets or chromophores.

Depending on the clinical outcome you want to get, the targets are different. For example, for the treatment of pigment marks the target is melanin, a skin pigment that in high concentration produces “brown spots”, for the treatment of skin redness (as in telangiectasia or rosacea) the target is the blood of the blood vessels.

Note that pigment marks severely betray aging, we call this condition photo-aging du to sun exposure. Treating them is a simple, effective and durable gesture using specific lights.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED BY LASER OR FLASH/IPL LAMP IN DR. GUZMAN’S OFFICE ?

The treatment can be done at the level of the face, neck, cleavage and back of the hands. The most common indications are: solar brown spots, small vessels around the nose and cheeks, diffuse redness ( rosacea and couperose) .

– A mixed red and pigmented appearance, often found in men’s necks and women’s cleavage.

– Photo-rejuvenation: The heat produced during the treatment causes abrasion of the superficial layers of the epidermis and dermis, stimulating the formation of fibroblasts in the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. The result is a gradual regeneration and rejuvenation of the skin.

– Softening of fine lines and improvement of the skin complexion with pores tightening effect gives a blow of brightness on the treated areas.

HOW DOES A FLASH/IPL OR LASER TREATMENT SESSION TAKE PLACE?

After discussing with you your desires and needs, I will examine you. A review of your state of health will allow me to evaluate the possibility of doing the treatment, possible contraindications: tanned skin, people taking photo-sensitizing medications (tetracyclines), pregnant woman or breastfeeding.

I will advise you which are the places where the flash/IPL lamp treatment will produce the most interesting results.

With your consent photos will be taken to be able to evaluate the result.

You will laying down comfortably on a bed, depending on the area to be treated, a protective gel will be applied to the skin and then using a “Handpiece” adapted to target the tissues with light.

The session is painless, it just feels a very brief sensation of warming up the skin.
The machine emits beeps that guide your practitioner during treatment. This phase lasts an average of 20 to 30 minutes.

A protective cream will be applied to you after the treatment. It is possible to resume normal activities immediately after the session.

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED FOR FLASH/IPL OR LASER TREATMENT?

In principle, only one session is enough for a superficial brown spot or a small vessel. If not, we can do a extra session a few months later.

In other cases, a protocol of 3 sessions spaced 3-4 weeks are needed.

In addition, destroying brow spots or small vessels does not change the skin’s tendency to produce it, so other brown spots or vessels may occur in the following months and years, hence the interest of maintenance sessions every year or two years.
