WHAT ARE THE SUSPENSION THREADS MADE UP OF?
The Aptos and Silhouette Soft ™ threads are made of an L-polylactic acid absorbable material on which small cones are also absorbable with two-way orientation. This orientation allows the suspension of the tissues after the placing of threads under the skin. This technique therefore requires no detachment of the skin as is the case in the classic facelift.
L-Polylactic acid is a material already widely used in the manufacture of suture yarns and has a sufficient recoil of several years demonstrating its safety. On the contrary there is a real capacity of L-polylactic acid to induce the production of collagen at the level of the skin and thus add to the tensor effect of the thread a stimulating and complementary filling effect.
WHAT EFFECT CAN BE EXPECTED WITH A TREATMENT WITH THE LIFTING THREADS?
The objective is to treat the sagging of the different regions of the face and to reposition the volumes. So, the result is perfectly natural. The classically treated areas are the cheekbone and nasolabial furrows, the cheeks and the lip, the oval of the face and the eyebrow.
The thread session can be carried out alone , but can be combined with other aesthetic rejuvenation techniques such as resurfacing (peeling, laser, dermabrasion), Blepharoplasty (upper and/or lower eyelids surgery)… It can also be done in conjunction with injections of botulinum toxin to reduce the strength of certain muscles responsible for the appearance of wrinkles.
Usually the disgraces will not completely disappear but will be greatly attenuated by the setting up of the threads. Some regions also respond much better to treatment than others more difficult to manage. Similarly, the durability of the correction is extremely variable according to the patients and the correction is only temporary and the treatment will have to be renewed to maintain the result.
It should be noted that many other alterations may be present, but their treatment is only possible by using more complex medico-surgical techniques than the threads.
This is particularly the case of important skin surpluses which can only be removed surgically. Similarly, some skin abnormalities (asperities, small scars, stains, micro-fine lines, “skin crumpled”) will only be corrected by a complementary resurfacing (peeling, laser, dermabrasion). There are no age limits for the establishment of the threads, beyond the legal ages.
HOW DO THREADS SUSPENSION LIFT WORK?
The basic principle is the setting up of a thread system in the subcutaneous space to create a re-tightening of the tissues. The device benefits from CE marking (European Community).
HOW IS THE THREAD LIFT TREATMENT PERFORMED AT DR. GUZMAN’S?
Dr. Guzman will ask you for valuable information about your state of health to seek possible contraindications to certain products (e.g. allergies), to detect items involving particular caution (cold sores) for labial and around the mouth infections, skin infections or irritation), or to specify the nature of possible previous injections in order to avoid certain dangerous combinations of products on the same site. A careful examination of areas to be treated is confronted with your demands and expectations to specify what is feasible and what is not possible to achieve with the treatment by threads.
Medications based on aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs should be avoided within 8 days prior to injection.
Pre-emptively taking Arnica 5 days before the session is recommended to reduce the risk of bruising.
It is best not to drink alcohol or to expose yourself strongly to the sun the day before and on the day of the session.
HOW IS A SESSION WITH SUSPENSION THREADS CONDUCTED BY DR. GUZMAN GOING?
You will be comfortably seated in Doctor Guzman’s treatment room, depending on the number of areas to be treated, the magnitude of the improvements to be made. Drawings will be made, on the points of entry and routes of the threads a local anaesthesia will be administered for a session under pain control. The session can last from 20 minutes to 1 hour.
In practice, there are several techniques and each doctor will adopt a method that is his own and that he adapts to each case to get the best results.
The number of threads needed is variable depending on many parameters. It will be evaluated as precisely as possible beforehand.
In some cases, a top-up may be necessary requiring the installation of an additional thread.
At the end of the treatment, you will be given recommendations for the result to be optimal.
WHAT CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN AFTER A SUSPENSION THREAD LIFT SESSION WITH DR. GUZMAN?
During the first six hours, it is better to stay calm, rest and refrain from any violent effort. It is also advisable to avoid as much as possible to mobilize his face (no mimic, not too much talk or laugh). If the treatment has been done at the neck, the use of a Minerva or a cushion around the neck (type rest during travel) will give you comfort.
For a few days it will be better to avoid alcohol, aspirin, anti-inflammatory medication, sun exposure and sauna.
Immediate side-effects may be marked by the appearance of oedema (swelling) and redness, the importance and duration of which are highly variable from one individual to another, but usually remain moderate (not prohibiting return to a normal socio-professional life very quickly) and disappear after 5 to 10 days.
More rarely, it is possible to observe in the first days, at the point of injections, a certain sensitivity of the skin, itching, a whiteness of skin, a hyperpigmentation, or small occasional bruises.
It should be noted that in the early days, there are often some temporary irregularities due to the inhomogeneous distribution of swelling and skin, or a wrinkly aspect that will gradually disappear.
WHAT ARE THE RESULTS OF THE THREAD LIFT?
A period of a few days is necessary to assess the final result. This is the time it takes for the product to be well integrated, that the swelling has disappeared and that the tissues have found all their flexibility.
Usually the disgraces treated are very clearly attenuated by the setting up of the threads, but do not always disappear completely. Indeed, some locations are particularly difficult to treat and there are deep and old wrinkles that can never be completely erased.
The purpose of this treatment is to make an improvement and not to achieve perfection. If your wishes are realistic, the resulting result should give you great satisfaction.
It has been seen that the duration of action is extremely variable depending on the areas to be treated, the technique, and the characteristics of the person treats according to the type of skin, the hygiene of life (stress, tobacco, alcohol, sun…) and the degree of correction sought. What can be improved is only temporary and the treatment will have to be renewed to maintain the result, usually every 18 to 24 months.
